Our curriculum
For this project we were tasked with creating a 3-4 week science curriculum for a 5th grade class in a close-by school. Our chemistry teacher has a sister that works at an elementary school in a nearby town. Her sister had questions about what to teach her kids and what they need to know. We then needed to create this science curriculum for her to teach to her kids.
We started off by creating a survey for her kids to take to see what they are interested in and if they have any knowledge of chemistry. Then we created a general plan of things that they will need to end up learning through our curriculum and went on our way creating questions and activities for them so they can have fun and learn.

Once we had the survey back we researched the material that they are supposed to learn. There is a new standard for science that they need to learn, but we also wanted to introduce them to concepts of chemistry that would help them learn in chemistry later in their school career. After several weeks of research and planning we developed a week by week curriculum for the teacher to teach to her kids.
Reflection
I thought that this project was interesting because it was unlike any other project that we have taken on. Our group found a lot of trouble with this project. There wasn't a clear guideline as to what we needed to have, so it took us a while to figure out what we thought was good to have. Some people in our group also had trouble staying on task and using their time wisely. Our group did create a comprehensive and detailed curriculum that did very well at covering everything those kids need to learn and then some. Our group also were one of the only groups to make and give a survey to the kids, which I thought was great.
